I have to agree that PJ is well done. I looked at it briefly when you posted before, but I finally started seriously skimming through it today. Well done! Makes me want to play. I to will probably like to get a copy when it is fully edited. I have to say with my skim through I only saw a couple minor edits needed.

Re: Wanting an ability based game, but tired of waiting?
I have gone through the text way too many times. Here is what scares me. I go over the text, then I have someone else go over the same chunk, then a third person. They point out a couple of things. I go back and find a dozen mistakes they missed. It makes me really appreciate professional editors.
I have had help over the first chunk and the last chunk. I doubt there is too much more there that has errors. My big worry is going through 374 spells (54 pages) of spells and editing those.
Anyway, there has been some interest in a PBP or a chat game. PBP is more convenient on time, but it also reduces combat. So still trying to figure that out.

Proofreading is certainly a fine skill - but nothing will ever be perfect. Now, copyediting is a slightly different and in some ways, more important too seek perfection on.

You seem to be putting words in my mouth. What I mean is that I respect the work that went into what is a viable system. I'm especially interested in the possible upcoming OGL mentioned in the preface so people can create products for it. Of course, the wall between myself and Darius creates some difficulties, but perhaps someday we'll build a bridge over or through that wall. Regardless, it is a piece of work well worth looking into.

Re: Wanting an ability based game, but tired of waiting?
I was giving things a final overview before sending it to be printed. I found out that the column sizes varied on the page. I set a specific size, but when the program would make its own boxes it would make them the programs default size. I could change the default, but every time the program made its own, I had the same problem. So I had to build a new layout from scratch one page at a time to make sure that the columns would have a larger distance between them.
I can't find an ideal column size. Most people publishing to the web have large gaps. Even some other publishers put in large gaps. I think this is to hide the lack of content. I set it at a level that improves readability, but not so large that space is wasted.
In addition, I made lots of little changes such as adding the falchion sword, changing prices of some weapons, altering bow distance to reflect accurate values, added optional rules for composite bow breakage, made alchemy description a bit clearer, added optional rule for health loss, modified monsters to create greater diversity in stats and minimize the need for clerics when dealing with low level undead, added a new monster, altered some of the art, and cleaned up the credits section.
Assuming I do not find any errors, this version will be the basis for the first printed edition with a color cover. Once that version is edited, then the final version will be made available via web and as a hardback. So I guess this is likely the penultimate version.
Oh, I added formulas for easy conversion of AD&D monsters to PJ in the forums section.

Well the cost was way too much. As I found out, what people told me the cost of art was going to be was for crappy art and even with that it is hit and miss with artists.
